Testimony #6 "Time Out-Raider Nation!
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work- Genesis 2:2 Are you missing out on the joys of life because you are to busy? When God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God made earth and heaven. God set in motion the standard for man to rest on the Sabbath. Those of the Jewish faith rest on Saturdays, the Muslims rest on Fridays and the Christians on the Lords day Sunday? God's value of rest once a week is simply the prevention of burning out. King David, rights the Lord is my shepherd He makes me lie down in green pastures; Psalm 23, God wants us to recharge our emotions which includes quiet time its where the believer receives his instructions from the Lord a place where one secludes him or herself from the worries of the world, as we practice the blessing of rest we come away relaxed, refreshed which quenches our thirst for peace, fellowship with the Lord strengthens us to experience victory in life. Even the NFL has its Sabbath? That's right we call it Monday morning quarterbacking - reflecting on yesterday's game and the preparation that took place for victory or defeat. Paying tribute where its due and making corrections where needed for the upcoming game by "fellowship" which includes watching game film and practice that's how NFL teams get recharged. In Christ we fellowship in church give praise to almighty God for the blessings and regroup for the next round of attacks by the enemy. It's important to encourage, uplift, inspire, and challenge each other on our day of fellowship and rest. "A relaxed attitude lengthens a man's life" Proverbs 14:30 in the NFL we use the term "Loose! When a team goes into the opponent's house with that attitude it simply means Victory! Take a time out! And look around, have you been to busy? And missing out on joys of resting in Christ? It brings peace and joy on the other six days, which avoids the burn out that we see in many folk's lives today. God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest. As we go into a new season, give the Lord thanksgiving as you prepare your favorite dish on your day of rest, whether you're at the Stadium in Oakland or somewhere around this awesome world we live in...God Bless!
